Celebrate National Small Business Week

It’s here! The 2025 National Small Business Week starts today and runs through Saturday, May 10th. Please support your local small businesses and help them celebrate their success.

Recognized by proclamation of the President of the United States since 1963, National Small Business Week 2025 takes place today through Saturday. The tradition is sponsored by the SBA (Small Business Administration) and co-hosted by SCORE (Service Corp of Retired Executives). This is your opportunity to celebrate your business and support other small businesses. Use social media to recognize your business and others during this time. The official hashtags to use are #SmallBusinessWeek and #CensusEconData.

The SBA general definition of a small business is a company that has less than 500 employees and less than $7.5MM in annual sales. Often, this definition is adjusted based on industries. The term Micro Business is defined as a firm having less than 10 employees and is often what may come to mind when hearing the term small business.

Regardless of employee size, firms will always have certain characteristics in common. This includes privately owned, independent and not part of a larger organization, a limited number of employees, and an organizational structure that normally includes an LLC., a Partnership, or a Sole Proprietorship. Corporations may also be small businesses.

Celebrate National Small Business Week by recognizing the contributions of your own firm, colleagues, and your local retail establishments. Post on social media, stop into your local retail shops and make a purchase, attend a book signing by an Authorpreneur, or send a congratulatory email to a friend who runs a small business. It takes courage and strength to run a small business. When you have the opportunity, extend a thank you and recognize them this week.

Be well.
