Writing Women of WNY
We have written before about the power and the advantages of collaboration. You certainly see it in the “pack” mentality of our dog companions. It is really no different with our human colleagues.
Recently, we met a couple of local “independently published” women authors. Both are looking to promote their respective books just like us. We decided to try a group signing approach with bookstores. Our first attempt has been a success with Barnes & Noble in the Eastview Mall in Fairport, NY booking us for Saturday, June 21st from 2- 4 PM.
What is an “independently published” author you may ask? Essentially, an author who has not been published with the larger, traditional publishers. In the industry, they are referred to as “Indie” authors. The Women in Publishing Summit we attended in early April introduced us to this term. Through that summit, we met a local author and we brainstormed with the result being the “Writing Women of WNY”. We pitched it to Barnes & Noble in Fairport who has been supportive since we stopped in there almost a year ago now.
We are incredibly excited for this milestone! And we are most thankful to Barnes & Noble in Fairport for being our first signing stop! We look forward to seeing you there! Joining us will be Joelle Cullen, What’s Handed Down, and Lisa Fellinger, The Serendipity of Catastrophe.
Sit. Point. Read. Join the conversation!
Be well.
