Going Live on Social Media
Social media sites like Instagram are full of videos or reels of animals doing cute things. Sometimes, a reel we post is chosen to be featured and suddenly hundreds of views occur. It really can be a great way to achieve maximum exposure for your business.
Last week, the new Chamber of Commerce I joined, posted a live interview of a new business they were showcasing. I listened to find out more about the business and where it was located. It turns out they offer a service I currently utilize out of my old town, an hour and a half away. They are within a few minutes driving from my new location. I sent the video feed to a friend who might also be interested in trying them.
I have not seen other Chambers I follow on social media use this platform to introduce local new businesses. It definitely stood out and caught my attention. Of course, it works when you have a retail business or a warehouse of products to show the camera. It may be a bit more challenging to showcase a professional service, especially if there are confidentiality requirements. And remember, you can always post a live event yourself, if being showcased through your local Chamber is not a viable option.
If you belong to a Chamber of Commerce, inquire about their policies around introducing businesses on their social media platforms. This same Chamber mentioned above offers a special Ad discount in their monthly e-newsletter for your business when you join. Illuminate did take advantage of that and we are waiting for their Marketing person to reach out to us. It will clearly revolve around our book, Making A Point. We do believe the last Chamber we joined, years ago, never offered anything like that and, certainly, not at such an affordable level.
Marketing has to be second nature when you own a small business. You should always be on alert for opportunities to sell your product or service. Starting with your local Chamber can be a great way to gain awareness, particularly if they offer special discounts for Ads when you join or ongoing social media live events at a place of business.
Be well.
