On the Lookout
If you have ever trained a dog, you know that the use of silent hand signals can be very effective in training. Audible sounds are always important but there may be times that a quiet visual-only signal is what is needed, particularly when among loud venues or crowds.
In business, signs are imperative to let others know where you are. If your business sees clients regularly, a sign outside your building and a sign inside is critical to helping them find you with ease. A bad or frustrating experience in locating a business does not set the right tone for any good impression of your business. We have been lost multiple times over the years and the frustration is hard to hide when you finally come to your destination.
A really helpful effort for finding your business if you are in a multi-location office building is to have the landlord post signs on each floor at the elevator or top of the stairs. This way, visitors know to turn left or right for your suite number. That is in addition to a listing in the lobby. We have seen many digital listings in buildings and those are easy for landlords to update as people move in and out. If yours does not have one, suggest it to your landlord.
If your business expects frequent visitors, clients or vendors or colleagues, make sure you do whatever you can to be found quickly. You should not have to bring along your tree climbing canine partner to locate where your business calls home. The quicker they find you the quicker you can get straight to business!
Be well.
